Not Transferable Courses

Note that the following courses are Not Transferable: Physical education, sports, fitness, weight lifting, personal wellness, health & wellness, personal finance, food & nutrition, welding, CAD, drafting, graphics, robotics, pre-engineering courses, computer operation courses such as Microsoft applications (e.g: MS Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint), SWC (Sweetland Writing Center), ELI (English Language Institute), pre-calculus MATH courses (e.g. U-M MATH 100, 103, 104, 105, 106)*, non-calculus based PHYSICS courses (e.g. U-M PHYSICS 119, 126/128, 125/127)*, non-calculus based CHEM courses (e.g. U-M 108), Independent Study, pass/fail or credit/no credit classes, and any course receiving a grade of “C-” or below. Specific IOE courses in the 200- and 300-level range are generally not transferable with a few occasional exceptions such as IOE 265.

*Note regarding non-calculus MATH & PHYSICS courses: Starting FT 2016, qualifying CoE students may transfer in PHYSICS 115 for 2 credits. Either MATH 105 (4cr) or MATH 110 (2cr) may also be transferred, but not both. This is particularly relevant for Cross Campus students who previously did not receive this credit. If appropriate, transfer & other CoE students may receive similar credit for qualifying transfer courses.

MATH Courses

For initial (first-time) MATH course evaluation or re-evaluation requests, including expired courses, please submit requests directly to the Math Department at this link. You will need to log in using an email, find the institution, and submit the course(s) for review. Prospective students should also use the link provided. If seeking direct equivalency, look for any notes from the Math Department regarding the review. If the MATH course is already evaluated as desired (such as direct equivalency for MATH 116), and you are just seeking confirmation of current equivalency, please submit the MATH request through the Math Department page.

BIOLOGY, EEB, or MCDB Courses

For evaluation requests within BIOLOGY, EEB, or MCDB, our office can review for departmental credit only (e.g. BIOLOGY 300-level dept. or MCDB 300-level dept.). Submit these requests via the TCAF below. If you are seeking direct equivalency (e.g. BIOLOGY 171, 172, &/or 173) work directly with the Biology Department at this link, and forward us (engincredit) the results afterward for posting.

CHEM or BIOLCHEM Courses

For re-evaluation or initial evaluation requests within CHEM or BIOLCHEM, the external course instructor and/or department offering the course(s) will need to send a detailed sample syllabus, copies of exams, quizzes, and laboratory experiments (when applicable) directly to our Chemistry Department for review at [email protected] . Please remind the instructor and/or department to include your UMID & name when sending course material to the Chemistry Department for review. We can confirm via the TCAF equivalencies for CHEM courses that are already listed on either the CoE or LSA database, and do not require further evaluation. No material is needed if the course is already approved as you desire.

PHYSICS Courses

PHYSICS 140/141 & 240/241 courses are transferrable.

EECS 280 and 281

No pre-evaluation for U-M EECS 280 or EECS 281. AFTER taking the course, CURRENT students may request evaluation. The evaluation will involve an interview, test, and/or programming assignment (note that equivalence is rarely granted). Contact [email protected] for more information on that procedure.
